Butlins Holidays
24th May 2014
We had booked this holidays way ahead in time, in January 2014. The trip was not until the 23rd of May 2014. Butlins normally do a weekend package, but as this was the bank holiday weekend, the package was for 3 nights instead of the usual 2.
The plan was to finish work on Friday and then drive down to Poole. The place was Bagnor Regis to be more precise. Deepika had just come back from her 2 months break in India after attending Arun's wedding. And Arun was also in London for his honeymoon. I was also expected to work on the Friday evening. Plus the thought of driving through the bank holiday traffic rush was daunting.
Bearing all this in mind, I decided that it would be unwise to travel on Friday evening, instead we will travel there early on Saturday. This way I would have the time to finish up my office work and then travel easily as there would be no traffic on the roads.
We also invited Arun and Arunima to come along with us. We had spoken to Jatin and Smiti and they were OK with then tagging along.
We left in home at about 6am, and as expected there was barely any traffic on the roads and we made it in under 90 minutes to our destination. Jatin and Smiti had already checked in, so we called them up and asked then which lodge was allocated to us. It was House No - 3 in the Atlantic Bay. The house was big and had all the amenities. The only down side was a single bathroom in a house that is designed to accommodate 6 people. Deepika's mate Trupti has also made plans to join us.
We freshened up and then left for the activity centre. There were plenty of games for the children. They had options of indoors and outdoors. The morning was a little peppy, so we preferred to stay indoors. Nimi, Yesha and Yash and Reetin were all engrossed in their games and kept themselves engaged.
It was almost lunch time and we decided to have food in Burger King. Deepika was not that hungry so I got just one meal and we all shared. Nimi fell asleep while eating her food. In the mean time Jatin had booked some activities for us which included wall climbing and high ropes (something similar to go ape but on a smaller scale). After having food, we all went there to try out the activities. It was real fun. Wall climbing was surprisingly tougher than it seemed. I did manage to make it to the top though, but it was hard work.
After that we went on a few rides and also had ice-cream. Deepika was getting tired so we headed back to the room. Mohit has plans to cook Chick Peas and rice. We also had the chicken biryani with us. There were plenty of options to eat. We fed Nimi and then the party had barely started when Deepika went off to sleep. I sat there, and watched the Champions League final between Real Madrid and Athletico Madrid. Real won on the night 4-1 after extra time.
I was too tired and must have dozed off at about 1 am.
