Barbados - Turtle Snorkeling - Day 7
It was another bright and sunny morning. We wanted to have the pizza for breakfast from the petrol pump. But as luck would have it, the delivery of the pizza was late so we took a walk around the 'hood'. We walked up to George Washington House, and saw some horses running in the race course.
We finally got our pizzas and we ate them near the pool. Soon after, we all got ready and walked our way to Harbour Lights. We bought the tickets from there. We were charged $30 per head, and they did not charge for Niki.
We all hopped on the Kuppa Troopa and we were off to see the shipwreck and the turtles. To our surprise they did not take us deep into the ocean. It was hardly 500m from the beach and more towards our hotel. They gave us the our snorkelling kit and gave us instructions on how to react near the turtles.
We went into the water and the view of the shipwreck was amazing. There were so many fishes swimming around and with the sun beating down, it was all clearly visible. We swam around for a while and soaked in the images as much as we could. It was a picture to savour for life.
We got back on the ship and then moved onto the next location to swim with the turtles. The crew, took some food into the water and made some drumming sound to attract the turtles. And sure enough the turtles came. They were big! They swam really close to us and we even touched the turtle. It kept coming very close to me, swam under me a couple of times. It was a bit scary to be honest. but we enjoyed it a lot. Niki even overcame her fear of putting her head under the water and enjoyed the underwater show.
After that we went back on the ship and they dropped us ashore. We walked back to our hotel while Nimi swam her way back. Deepika and I sat down at the beach and soaked up the sun, while the kids kept on playing in the water. Finally, we called them over and we all laid down at the beach. We even dozed off for a while.
We wanted to eat the same Chicken roti, for lunch today as well, but the shop was closed today, so we walked up the road, and had some Bajan cuisine. It was not as great as we had with Mark (our taxi driver +1 246 263 6556).
We came back and then after a while, we decided to get back on the paddle boards. They charged us $40 for 2 hours of paddle boarding. We all took turns and enjoyed it. Deepika even did her "Surya Namaskaar" yoga on the paddle board. It was great. Niki and I kept on paddling for a long time. Niki was growing in confidence every time we went out into the water and that was great to see. It was absolutely amazing to see Nimi snorkel and paddle boat with such confidence even though she was doing these activities for the first time.
It was getting dark, so we went back to our room and got fresh. We were not very hungry, so I got just one chicken chowmein and we all shared it. The large portion of chicken chowmein was $21.
The kids went off to sleep and I checked-in and then went to sleep.
