Day 2 - Washington DC
We all woke up early as we had all been well rested.
We were staying at the Super 8 by Wyndham Alexandria/Washington D.C. Area, 110 B South Bragg St Alexandria, Virginia, 22312, United States of America. The place was not the usual standards we are used to, but the beds were comfortable. Although breakfast was included in the room, the breakfast options were a joke. Just coffee and a muffin. We were really disappointed about it. We got fresh and went for a walk around the vicinity to explore all the options nearby.
There were plenty of food options around the area. We went to a McD nearby and had some breakfast there, but we did not enjoy it as much. We then went to the Seven 11 store next door and had some honey roast chicken skewers. They were really good and all 4 of us managed to finish off a 2 large skewers.
Now that we were full we came back to the room and got ready to leave for Washington DC. It was only a 10 minutes drive into the city. We looked for a parking near the Washington monument and found one. The parking was charging $12 for the first hour but $23 for the entire day!
We parked there are set off on foot to explore the Washington Mall area. We reached the Washington monument and clicked some pictures there. The day was nice and sunny and the pictures were coming out really nice and bright. My new Honor Magic 4 pro also helped 😉.
We then walked on from there to the World War 2 memorial. Again we were clicking pictures and walking at our own pace.
We kept walking to the Lincoln memorial. When we reached there we had almost been walking for an hour, so we took a short break and had some drinks to cool us off. We then went to see the Lincoln Memorial.
It was majestic as ever. Really enjoyed spending time there. Afterwards we started our walk towards the Vietnam War memorial. It was just a 3 minute walk from the Lincoln Memorial.
After that we went to see the Korean War Memorial. The statues of the walking soldiers was breathtaking and it was really nice to be there.
Everyone was getting a bit tired and we did not want to walk all the way back up to the Washington monument and beyond to go to Five Guys for lunch. So we decided to rent out a couple of e-scooters. I downloaded the Spin app and set it up for payment and got us a couple of scooters.
We rode our way back to the monument and then went further down to the restaurant. It took us about 30 mins on the scooters and cost us $30 for both the bikes. We had our food at Five Guys and then started walking towards the White House.
We took some pictures in front of the White House and then had some ice cream as it was getting warm and Niki was getting really tired. We all had walked over 20K steps today! We reached the car park and paid the parking charges of $23 and started our drive back to the hotel.
We had plans to go out and have dinner later, but we all were very exhausted and just dozed off to sleep.
